On December 11, the Xuemin Advanced Research Institute of Fudan University and Shanghai Runda Omni Dynamics Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Omni Dynamics Bio”) jointly hosted a strategic symposium. The event was attended by Professor Pascal Mayer, the first Xuemin Scholar, recipient of the 2022 Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences and the 2024 Canada Gairdner International Award, Honorary Chair of the Institute for Advanced Study at the University of Strasbourg, and Co-Founder and CEO of Alphanosos.
In his lecture, Professor Mayer pointed out that advances in next-generation sequencing (NGS) and omics technologies have revealed the extreme complexity of biological systems, while also highlighting that precision medicine may be approaching its inherent limitations. He reviewed the development of NGS and reflected on his own professional journey, discussing how these technologies have profoundly transformed scientific research and public health management.
Inspired by The Art of War, which emphasizes mastering complex situations through subtle, distributed actions, Professor Mayer went on to introduce how his team is exploring an entirely new therapeutic paradigm. This approach is based on large-scale indirect perturbation—leveraging safe, edible components combined with dedicated artificial intelligence algorithms to achieve a “thousand-fold regulation” multi-molecular strategy. Such a strategy aims to rebalance biological networks and respond rapidly to emerging infectious disease threats. He emphasized that the integration of ancient strategic wisdom with modern science has the potential to reshape the future landscape of medicine.
This strategic symposium was jointly initiated by the Xuemin Advanced Research Institute of Fudan University and Omni Dynamics, with the goal of creating a dialogue platform that bridges world-class scientific vision and China’s industrial innovation practice. The discussions focused on the translational application of future life science technologies. Centered on multiple frontier domains—including natural exosome screening and engineering, foresight-based immune microenvironment analysis, next-generation pathological diagnostics, the development of fully automated stem cell culture platforms, and next-generation antibody discovery pathways integrating artificial intelligence with Oligo Pool technologies—the two parties explored potential routes for translating these advanced research achievements from the laboratory to clinical application. Following the symposium, Professor Mayer visited the R&D center of Omni Dynamics.
By integrating Professor Mayer’s global perspective in AI algorithms and multi-target drug discovery with Omni Dynamics’ industrial capabilities in precision diagnostics and engineering platforms, the collaboration is expected to establish a supramolecular interaction library based on the complex constituents of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). This initiative represents a significant effort to situate China’s traditional wisdom within a modern scientific research paradigm, while paving the way for a new generation of therapeutic solutions that are derived from nature and enabled by intelligence.
This deep convergence of “master vision” and “industrial insight” formally marks the launch of a complete innovation cycle spanning fundamental research to industrial application. The Xuemin Advanced Research Institute of Fudan University and Omni Dynamics stated that they will continue to uphold an open and collaborative approach, working alongside scientists worldwide to advance life science technologies and contribute Chinese wisdom and strength to the global pursuit of human health.
